NEW! SVG Transcoder Now Included with BlackBerry Internet Service and BlackBerry Enterprise Server
The Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) transcoder is now included as part of BlackBerry Internet Service™ and BlackBerry Enterprise Server™. The SVG transcoder is designed to convert supported SVG file format content into PME content on-demand when SVG content is requested by a software application.† As a result, content developers no longer need to manually generate PME content from supported SVG content. The SVG transcoder allows for improved delivery of data-driven SVG content to BlackBerry wireless devices.
BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to check their email and browse the web on a BlackBerry wireless device or BlackBerry-enabled device.* Users of BlackBerry Internet Service have the ability to access up to 10 supported business/personal email accounts and browse web content while on the go. The Internet browser feature of BlackBerry Internet Service allows users to quickly access HTML and WAP Internet content, with support for multiple content formats (GIF, JPEG, PNG, HTML, xHTML Basic, WML, SVG and JavaScript)** and secure sites (HTTPs, TLS, SSL).
BlackBerry Enterprise Server is software that sits behind a corporate firewall and can tightly integrate with existing enterprise systems.*** The BlackBerry Mobile Data Service™†† feature of BlackBerry Enterprise Server enables push-based access to enterprise applications and information using a BlackBerry wireless device or BlackBerry-enabled device, browser and software development tools. It supports multiple languages (XML, WML, JavaScript and HTML) and allows users to access data through either the BlackBerry Browser or Java™ applications.
Content developers should refer to the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™ SVG Reference documentation in the Plazmic® Content Developer's Kit for further details on the supported set of SVG elements and attributes†.
* Availability of certain features of BlackBerry Internet Service may vary by wireless service provider.
** Some features require BlackBerry Handheld Software version 3.8 or subsequent versions.
*** Additional application development may be required.
† The SVG transcoder does not support all SVG content. Please refer
to the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld SVG Reference document for the supported
set of SVG. For best results, content developers should use the supported
set of SVG.
†† Requires BlackBerry Enterprise Server software for Microsoft
Exchange version 3.5 or subsequent versions, BlackBerry Enterprise Server
software for IBM® Lotus® Domino® version 2.2 or subsequent
versions, or BlackBerry Enterprise Server software for Novell® GroupWise® version
4.0 or subsequent versions.
